Polaroid 180

Polaroid 180-002

The Polaroid 180 was the first Polaroid Packfilm camera to be built purely for the professional market.

The body was designed along the lines of the 100 series, but the camera was built with manual exposure via the amazing Tomioka f4.5 114mm Lens mounted into a custom made rim set Seiko-SLV shutter.

Exposure metering could be done on camera with the fitting of the Polaroid 628 Exposure Meter (shown fitted) and then the values where transferred to the controls on the lens.

This manual control system made it an instant hit with professional artists, who loved the images produced by the Polaroid system, but wanted more input and control over them for artistic purposes.

The camera was priced almost the same as the 100 series upon sale in the UK and as such was a poor seller with the public, who could not see why a simpler camera without auto exposure was costing as much.

As the brand evolved in later models (185/190/195) the camera built up a loyal following amongst professional users who loved the look given by the Polaroid Packfilm, but wanted sharper images and more creative control.

Today the 180 is a rare camera, and we are pleased to keep ours working for what it was created.

If you love the polaroid look, and want the best possible optical quality, or if you want to have total creative control over the final image, then we have the tool to make your idea a reality.
