The Zeiss contina III was produced between for a relatively short period between 1955 and 1958.
Built to be a small, compact and reliable camera for the serious hobbyist, it featured a built in selenium light meter, a fast Zeiss Pantar 45mm f2.8, which unusually for a small camera was interchangeable with the lenses for the Contaflex Beta of the same period.
This meant that this compact camera could was now part of a system and could be fitted with a Zeiss Pantar 30mm f4 or a Zeiss Pantar 75mm f4, as well as a range of specifically designed close up adapters (as shown).
The camera featured a large, clear and bright viewfinder and a simple scale focus design.
The Contina III found popularity as a second camera, a camera that could be used and owned in conjunction with the Contaflex, a more compact, but just as useful alternative for those occasions where it wasn't possible to use a full SLR.
As well as sharing Contaflex accessories, there was a new range of more compact items, such as the flash gun pictured, developed for use with the Contina.
Dont let it's diminutive proportions fool you, this camera was a Zeiss through and through and delivers amazingly good photos.
