Now...
I know what your thinking...
That looks like a little compact camera, not some professional camera.
And your right...
But the trick to replicating the look of vintage photos is that very few where taken on high end equipment, the holiday snapshots on the beach in the 50's where most likely taken on cameras like these, so we have them to replicate those very kinds of photos.
This particular model is a Braun Paxette II from Circa 1952.
Although the 2 windows above the lens give an impression of it been a rangefinder camera, it is not. One window house the viewfinder, the other house an extinction meter, a very early form of exposure metering.
This camera comes fitted with Pronto S (300) shutter and an M39 lens mount, into which we can mount a set of Staeble lenses:-
Staeble-Werk Choro 35mm f4.5
Staeble-Kata 45mm f2.8
Staeble-Werk Telon 85mm f5.6
The 35mm and 85mm use the accessory finder and finder mask shown in the photos for framing.
The Paxette was a great, well built camera and was one of the first popular "real" cameras to be sold in any numbers in post war britain. You can learn more about this and other Braun Paxette's on Camerapedia.
